Other important considerations to prevent injuries to your stretching:
-
Hair: Hair contains oil and dirt, which can irritate your dermal. We recommend keeping your hair tied back.
-
Pets: Sleeping with your pet, letting them near your pillow, or allowing them to lick your stretching can lead to serious infections. We recommend keeping pets away from your stretching.
-
Pillowcase: Your pillowcase can harbor bacteria that may cause infection. It collects oil, dirt, and dead skin from your hair and face. We recommend changing your pillowcase frequently.
-
Phone: Cell phones are a major source of bacteria and can infect your stretching. Avoid touching your stretching with your phone, and keep your phone disinfected in case of accidental contact.
-
Towels: Towels hold bacteria and dead skin, which can infect your stretching. Never use a towel to clean your stretching use cotton swabs or paper towels instead.
-
Bodies of water: Avoid swimming or entering any body of water while your stretching is healing, as this can cause infection.
-
Drinking alcohol or smoking: These can lower your immune system and slow down the healing process.
-
Poor nutrition: A poor diet can also weaken your immune system and delay healing.
Stretchings require proper hygiene and care even after they’re healed. This is a long-term commitment you take on when deciding to get a stretching. Remember: using low quality jewelry can damage even a fully healed stretching. Cheap can end up being costly.
